wc/shower room ventilation

Hi,

I have a small internal wc/shower room with no ventilation or means to run a duct to an exterior wall. Can I install an extractor fan into the tenement close or into my hallway or are there any other solutions?

cheers, Andy

Cheers guys, just mentioned it to an old plumber who said it was common practice in the old days. A type of sound-poroofing but also a way of gwtting rid of all the debri, saving a trip to the skip!

Drylining internal wall

Hi,

I am drylining an interior wall as the plaster has come away from the lathes. But the top half of the wall seems sound. Do I leave the sound plaster and just dryline the bottom half or do you suggest I do the whole wall?

Cheers,

Andy

Suspect property is around 60-70 years old. Am on the first floor. Reason I am looking under floorboards is that some need replaced. Looks like the whole floor cavity has been filled with rubble and debri. Just wondering if this was common practice back in the day or some kind of cheap/lazy way of g...

Cavity under floorboards

Hello, The cavity under my bedroom floorboards appear to have been filled with rubble and debri. Was this some kind of primitive and/or lazy insulating technique? Could this lead to damp or other long-term problems? Should I clear it all out? I'm on the first floor. It's no surprise as whoever lived...

Drylining onto lathed wall or brick

I am about to start removing loose plaster and dryline. Should I fix the new boards to the existing lathed wall, or remove the lathes and dob and dab directly on to the brick?

Cheers,
Andy
