Condensation in Loft

Could someone offer me some advice. Our roof suffers from condensation in the colder months of winter. We believed we had remedied the problem when a roofer put 6 roof vents in earlier this year. During the mild end of the winter and obviously the summer, the roof was bone dry. Suddenly since the co...

Cavity wall

Hi Stoney Boy. Sorry, I think I've shown my ignorance of walls. I'm guessing although there's an internal wall and an external one, it isn't what you would class as a cavity wall, although there's obviously a gap between the two. Even the weather changing over the last few days has made the wall a g...

Cavity wall insulation

HI, thanks for the reply- I should have pointed out that the house was refurbished a few years ago. The wall in question is hollow, as far as I'm aware there's definitely a cavity which could be filled, i just don't know whether that would solve the problem of it being very cold in the winter. Any f...

WIll Cavity wall insulation remedy my cold moldy walls?

Hi One of of our external walls is in a narrow alley down the side of our house, which makes for a cold drafty area in the winter. The internal wall gets very cold during these months and i have noticed that mold has started to appear- a result of condensation as I understand it. Would cavity wall i...

Damp wall

HI, We had a leaking gutter a while back and started to get some rising damp in our hallway- directly adjacent to where water had been leaking. The area outside is our side ally- which is made up of shingle style stones piled on top of earth- a quick fix by the previous owners We had the damp proof ...

Roof vents

HI, I believe all three of the contractors I've spoken to are proposing to put tile vents in, positioned across the roof to provide the right kind of cross flow, obviously one guy thinks we need a lot more than others. The eaves used to be blocked by insulation, but I believe most of this was pulled...

En-suite conversion

HI, I'm thinking about adding an ensuite bathroom to our main bedroom. The dimensions of the bedroom are approx 15.5 feet by 10.5. The shape is therefore similar to a tennis court. My thoughts were to put a small ensuite bathroom in one corner of the room- building against the inside wall-on the oth...

Loft ventillation

Hi, We have a roof with a fairly low pitch, and despite soffitt vents being instaled a while back, are suffering from considerable condensation during the cold snap. I have had two roofers over to the visit the property, an 1885 brick built semi detached house. One has recommended the installation o...

Thanks, will do, there's no water tank in there, it appears to be the type of felt that was used to re-do the roof. It apparently is a common cause of sweating.

Will repost in roof.
