didn't realise they intended to put a plug on the end of the burried flex, that is a weitd way of doing it. don't know if it meets the regs as I've never looked into it as I would never consider doing it!! I would go the same way as you suggest with a FCU off the ring. I can't really see why they wo...

The onsite guide has a good section on testing. this book is a must for any electrician. I would be alarmed if you didn't have one on your book list for the course. Are you sure about the credentials of this course. given the limited info in your post it sounds a bit suspect!

I would hope they aren't going to spur off. they should be extending the ring for the number of outlets you will probably be needing, especially civen the high current of many kitchen appliances. The cooker should usually have it's own feed. If they are only extending or modifying circuits you will ...

if you have a n earth oin the JB, which it appears you have, you could either run an earth from there to your new light, or replace the bit of cable feeding your light with a new bit of twin and earth.

It depends on how your current lighting is wired. The way I would have done it if I were wiring it is to run a cable from the DB to the switch. The red (or brown on new cable) goes into com on the switch. the load cable coming out (red or brown) goes into L1. your neutrals are fastened together in a...

so if I understand you correctly the cables are on the insualtion, not sorrounded by it, so thats ok. even if they run surrounded by insulation it's not necessarilly a problem, but you have to calculate the load on the cables with that in mind to see if larger cable needs to be used. Part of plannin...

it's no problem fitting the new fuse to your board if the cable is already 10mm, nice of someone to overrate the circuit for you previously!! finding a 45A fusae may be a challenge but they are out there. my understanding is this doean't require part p registration either as this is a like for like ...

you must have an earth on a metal fitting, otherwise, if a conductor comes out (which happens more often than you might think) the whole fitting could become live, which will be entertaining next time you try and change a bulb!! can you tap an earth onto the fitting somewhere? if you can't get an ea...

Good to here your response, it suggests you have a greater knowledge than most. I think you will struggle to find a spark to certify this though as they are certifying to say the whole installation conforms, which they don't know unlesss they have been informed all along. the best they would do is a...

having a ring on a ring is dangerous. You may also have overloaded your current lighting circuits If you have fitted junction boxes under the floor unless they are of the non maintainable type (i.e. without screws) you've breached the regs. Are the new cables you have laid protected by RCDs, if not ...

this is always a possibility with a new board because they can pick up a pre-exisiting fault which was not apparent on your old board because they work in different ways. If the wiring is very old a rewire may be in order, however, as a short term fix if you can isolate the circuit causing the probl...

best bet is to google what your looking for, you can then find some excellent step by steps, although naturally very little of it is independently checked for accuracy
