Thanks KB. Appreciate that transformer would be permanently powered as would the rectifying bridge, but with no load on the rectifier when the lamp is off, will this place excess strain on the electronics and possibly shorten it's life?

Switching Supplies

Hi

I need some help. I have a surface mounted down-lighter and wish to place the switch in the output circuit (DC) of the transformer and not in the 240V AC supply to it. Can anyone see any problems with such an arrangement?

Regards
