Please could somebody give me some advice on how to stop my stairs from creaking. I cannot gain access to my stairs from underneath to strengthen them from there so the only option I see I have is to screw them down. Spur cable length

Please could somebody tell me what the maximum length is I'm allowed to have a spur cable at? I'm looking to add another socket in the next bedroom which is about 1 metre away from the socket i need to go from. Is this length ok?
