Hi Andy The simple answer to your question is yes, but! 1) You will need to make sure that the pressure is sufficient, in the option Simon mentioned the installer will (should) install a pressure reduction valve in the main line to ensure that the pressure in the system does not go above the thresho...

Hi melinka Are there any motorised valves which would control the flow of water between the hot water side and the radiators in your system? If so, it might be possible that one of them has a fault. Cheers Jim PS You can also find out more about the Weekend Plumbing course and our CH & Wiring Co...

Hi AndyTow One thing you WILL have to consider is that when an old system, such as yours, is upgraded then it will need to comply with the requirements of the CHeSS central heating system specifications. Matt would probably edit a link so just search on google for CHESS HEATING and you should find a...

Hi PJ Yes mate - use the flexi tap connectors. They are made in a number of sizes - with push fit or compression on the 15mm end. The most common size is a 12mm screw fitting on the tap end and a 15mm fitting on the other end. They also make 10mm options. If you are going to take out the tap you sho...

Hi Shaz Is this a problem that has just happened, or is it something that has got progressively worse over time? One of the challenges with Combi boilers is that they will only heat a limited amount of HW in a given time, and the small print in the manufactures info will tell you that the quoted lit...

Hi Richard

No! There is not an easy way to fit them - these are also known as Tourettes panels for obvious reasons!

Good luck

Cheers

Hi Rusky The answer to your question is YES plastic pipe can be connected directly to compression fittings. However, there are few things that will need to be checked and done correctly. Firstly - the temp/pressure rating of the plastic pipe you are using. For example, Hep20 15mm Barrier pipe is pre...

Hi DPAGEOK There is a formula for calculating the height that the vent pipe needs to be above the level of the water surface in the cold water storage tank (CWST). This is 150mm + 40mm for each meter of system height. System height is defined as the height from the coldwater inlet at the bottom of t...

Hi Andy A little confused by your mail - it's probably me! If you are looking to get a shower with decent pressure, then you will need to supply both hot and cold water are roughly the same pressure. A shower pump achieves this by taking cold water from the storage tank and hot water from the cylind...

Hi Bob

Firstly - call the plumber back again. People should stand by their work, we do!

Secondly, it could be the result of air in the system, you do not say if it is a combi or system boiler.

Can you hear any other sounds which would indicate thate air was circulating around the system?

A bit rash!

Hi brooks From the info you've given it sounds like your boiler might well be cutting out as it overheats. Firstly - does the pump run? If the pump does not run then the water will not circulate away from the boiler after it has heated and will cuase a thermal cut out. Secondly, I would NOT recommed...

Motorised Valves

Hi Andy If you hot water (HW) then we can assume that your boiler and pump are OK. The next logical unit to look at is either the 3-port valve, or zone valve - it depends upon which arrangement of motorised valves you have in your Central Heating (CH ) system. To identify which type of valve you hav...
