Re: Wiring Lounge Lighting for new Lamp

Should be no neutrals going into the switch plate.

In the light wiring, put all browns together...... all blues together...... the switch wire with brown sleeve to light & take a neutral to the light

Re: Wiring Lounge Lighting for new Lamp

Looks like there is a borrowed neutral there (single blue wire) which is most probably feeding another light somewhere, like an outside light.

Re: Anyone Know How to Change This Type of Lightbulb?

It should be held in by two spring clips, carefully pull the fitting out of the recess & you will be able to change the lamp.

Re: Electric Cable Detector's False Reading and Drilled Through Cable

Cables in walls run vertically & horizontally in line from sockets & switches.
When you drilled 9" away from the socket, was it directly above, below or on either side.

Re: Extractor fan not Coming on Every Time Light is Switched on?

Should have a fan isolator somewhere nere to it outside the bathroom, check connections in the switch(TURN POWER OFF FIRST) have a look in the pull cord switch for loose connections.
Check connections in the light fitting.
Really need some test equipment to test circuit

Re: Wiring in a new Thermostat THat Needs Moving Slightly

If you are installing a standard 230V room stat they require a live, switched live and neutral, thats why you need a 3-core and cpc rather than just a 2-core. However, if you are installing a digital room stat they only require a 2-core and cpc. Terminals on the stat are usually numbered 1,2,3 and 4...

Re: Security Light Wiring for 400 Watt PIR Light

Pond wire, waterproof flex, should be ok, as long it is no larger than 1.5mm2.

400w light with a 240v supply will draw 1.7A so a 3A fuse should be used.
