Can PVC tile trim (edging or strip) be painted?

My kitchen tiles are good but unfortunately the PVC trim or edging is the wrong colour and it jars with the tiles. :?

I don't want to remove the strip as tiles look superb so...

Is it possible to buy paint to go on the tile edging?

If yes, what type of paint can be used?

Thank you.

soundproof a boiler room

I have a similar problem. When the boiler fires up it a bit like having a rocket blasting off into space. Just kidding - it's not that loud. I was hoping to find something that just sticks to the wall - something quick and easy to cut and fit into the space but I guess plywood and loft insulation wi...

Caulking a crack in a ceiling

Hello, I had quite a few Artex ceilings replastered in my home. Everything is fine except one large room. I had noticed that there was a crack in the Artex running the length of the room down the middle and hoped the new plaster would hide it but it has reappeared in the new plaster and now I have p...

Untreated wooden floorin - pros and cons

Hello, I would like to put in wooden floorings for a lounge and bedroom. Laminated floors and real wood flooring from various DIY stores seem expensive (upwards from around £16 per square metre). By the time you add lining and underlay the price shoots up. Would buying untreated planks be cheaper to...

Have you used purpose-made artex remover?

Hello, Has anyone one out there used purposemade artex remover? What did you ceiling look like once you had used it? Did it damage the plasterboard? Did you still have to plaster the boards afterwards anyway? Was it a very messy job to do? Is this an expensive way to hide/remove artex? Thank you. Ra...

response to question about the need for vents

When I had the place surveyed - the report said the loft needed vents. It was rather stuffy up there and there is also a lot of loft insulation. I assume that putting in tile vents help air the loft. I am not sure why vents are needed - some technical reason. It is just how many do I need that I am ...

Do 'wood hardening solutions' work on softwood?

Hello, I have a stable door leading from kitchen into the garden. The door itself seems fine but the frame is softwood!

If I used some sort of penetrating solution to harden the frame?

Do these type of solutions work or should I replace the frame?

thank you.

Turning a low garden wall into seating area

Hello, I have a low retaining wall in my garden which surrounds a patio area. It would be useful to turn it into seating but not sure how to do this or what to use. It is about 12-14 foot long, built from stone and well built. What can I use on top to turn it into seating? Is wood the best? What do ...

Laying pipe from washing machine to drain

Hello, An external broom cupboard attached to the back kitchen seems ideal for a washing machine and drier. It would need a waste pipe leading to the nearby drain in the rear garden BUT I don't want to dig up concrete. Is it possible to put a waste pipe through the wall of the broom cupboard (comple...
