It depends on the boiler make and model, you need the heating side pressurised, so it's best to either leave one radiator connected, or link the flow and return at the boiler. You might be able to isolate the flow and return at the boiler, and pressurise the heating side, but you could end up causin...

Check the ballvalve in the tank is filling as quickly as its emptying, as the water has been off for the shower fitting, it is likely some debri has got stuck in the valve.

The water in the radiators is not the same as what would come out of the hot tap.

You need to tee into the hot water pipework supplying the basin.

Most manufacturers require at least the 1st metre off the boiler is copper. You don't want to restrict the flow too much, it's best to run as far as you can in 22mm and branch off for each radiator with 15mm. A short 15mm run will be okay for 2 radiators. Is that head height with your 50mm insulation over the rafters, plasterboard/slim.

I would just run by building control, before starting. We needed 2m on the stairs and he wouldn't pass 1.9m so had to alter them to get the height

I'm in the middle of doing my loft, the new joists come off the wall plate, and didn't require any steel. The new joists are above the existing ceiling joists, I've never seen a loft conversion where the old joists and ceiling were removed, unless there's is a requirement to - to get the required 2....

The joists would normally go between the steel, over the top of the existing ceilings/joists but not in contact with them.

Check that the taps are the right ones, meant for high or low pressure. If the hot water is tank fed, they might not be suitable for high pressure, and why you're getting the noise on the cold mains.

I think your friend may have assumed it was gas, when you mentioned a yellow tag.

If the heating is working then yes, leave it as it is until you get sorted. There's that many safety devices on boilers now, if it didn't like what was happening, the boiler would lock out on fault.

You need to get them back, both sides need to be made good, any gap letting in daylight will allow water in and cause noise when windy.

You'll struggle to manage the speed with a drill attachment, a dremmel or similar would be better and you'll get finer tips for hard to reach grooves.

Wire wool is also good for preparing wood.

Best thing is to remove the tail, and try a new one with ptfe and paste. You may be lucky and damaged the tail thread rather than the towel rail.
