Up to 16mm gives improved thermal insulation, and above that convection can take place and the cold can be transferred, however if you need sound insulation, the larger the air gap the better

The previous poster is correct the water is coming through the cill, however, the cause is probably that the cill is not level or leaning towards the outside as it should be , but leaning inwards

Realistically The thinnest you can make a double glazed unit is 14mm ie 2 panes of 4mm glass and a 6mm spacer. You then need 3mm per side for bedding compound, so without the beads you need 20mm minimum plus a bead of 12mm each, you normally don't have space for this in the rebate of a mass produced...

the cover plate is held on with a low tack adhesive. Pop the point of a sharp knife in the small gap between the cover and the body of the handle and gently lever it out. Do not worry about damaging it as all new handles come with new cover plates

Hi New here

I don't know about, buzzing, but wailing on uPVC windows usually means that the water drainage holes on the inside and outside are in line rather than offset, which makes them act as a sort of flute when the wind blows.
