Having arrived home and found that there is no flexible pipe or pressure gauge on my boiler, I called in the expert. He found that the new oil pump, fitted the week before as the old one was leaking, was too much of a load on the old motor, which was tripping out. A new motor fixed the problem. So, ...

Thanks, collectors for that. It might be a bit complicated for my wife (no ******* intended) but I have e-mailed her your suggestion and we will see what she can come up with.
I thought the system was a sealed one, if there is a lack of water. does this mean I may have a leak?
