If your boiler is providing enough heat for the rad circuit then if you turn this off using your valve, will it then heat the cyclinder. Are you saying that the cyclinder heating coil feed gets hot but the flow (after starting to heat the water) does not? Is your Primary (hot water) cicuit pumped?

What about the boiler thermostat setting?

Set it on high so that the sytem is controlled by the room stat and cylinder stat (if you have one).

Does seem to point to a gas valve fault. Main burner solonoid is dropping out; not holding main burner open.

Sounds like boiler still has demand from a remote stat.

If it was me I would verify switched live present, then quickly check for voltage at main burner solonoid.

What controls the temperature of the hot water cyclinder when it is being heated by the boiler?

Does it have a thermostat attached to the side which is connected to to boiler? Or do you regulate the hot water temperature by the boiler thermostat?
