Thanks a lot for the reply - what do you mean by "automatic disconnection type" - do you mean RCD? So even if I get an electrician, the council still have to come and inspect the installation? On a different note - how would they (council) know that anything has been done to the bathroom?

So when the internal side of the wall dries, can it be painted or covered with plasterboard or plywood? Or does the brick have to be left exposed in order to breathe?
