mh523, I doubt the timber structure has rotted completely - remove the damaged plasterboard, remove any timber which you can remove by hand, treat the remaining timber with a preservative, patch the remaining timber to give a sound base and fit new plasterboard. end thanks stoneyboy so i should rip...

Newbie needs help repairing wall-step by step

Hello first off, im almost a complete newbie with DIY. but ive decided to fix a damaged wall caused by leakage in my house. leakage is fixed but interior not. ive open up the section and found rafters rotting and layers. plaster and paint. im taking this fix slow. working on it once or twice a week....
