Concrete path disintegrating. Can I stop this process?

Hi all

The surface of the concrete path in my garden is beginning to break down. Every time I sweep it, tiny sections break away, leaving a sandy surface. The cold weather earlier in the year and the use of salt probably didn't help.

Is it possible to slow down or stop this process?

Thanks for the reply, Sparx.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding the parts that I need. Is there any chance that you could post links to the parts so that I can buy them?

Thanks.

Hi all In the end, I decided to get a periodic inspection done. It was a good job that I did. The electrician advised that although I have a TN-C-S system, the earth cable from the main breaker to the consumer unit was not connected! He connected it up for me free of charge. Aside from that, the ins...

Extending earth bonding by making the cable 'continous'

I recently had a periodic inspection. One thing that was picked up was my gas supply is not earth bonded. As the gas supply and water supply (water is earth bonded) are close to each other, the electrician suggested that I could extend the earthing cable to the gas supply. However, I would need to e...

Ericmark, thanks for your very comprehensive reply. I have contacted Western Power, who I believe is responsible for electricity supplies in the Bristol area. They said that they do not know what type of earthing arrangement I have and I will need to get an electrician out to confirm this. Are you a...

Water co. upgrading supply pipe to plastic. Earthing issue?

Hi all, Bristol Water will shortly be upgrading the main water supply pipe in my street to a plastic pipe. They have warned that some houses built before 1966 (mine is 1930s) may use the current metal water supply pipe for electrical earthing and I should get an electrician to check if my property w...
