Re: Toilet refilling when neighbour flushes!!

Brilliant cheers, I'll give it a shot. I think the flats are mains fed (flat roofed purpose built flats-can't figure out where they'd put a loft tank), but it def could be water presseure. My mate said she'd only had this problem since new toilet put in, and it's got worse since a plumber came to lo...

Toilet refilling when neighbour flushes!!

Hi wonder if anyone can help? My friend lives in a flat, and everytime the flat immediately below hers flushes their toilet, it syphons the water out of her toilet cistern! Then her cistern has to refill. She had a new bathroom fitted a couple of years or so ago, with a new close coupled toilet, and...

ahhh thanks for that Stoneyboy. I was trying to use water pump pliers (I'd put tape round the jaws so wouldn't mark chrome on the tap) as suggested in one of my ref books, but it just wasn't providing me with any grip even tho' I was hanging onto spout and trying to turn head gear in opposite direct...

She has an old style pillar tap, which apparantly was put in 60 years ago and has NEVER needed to be fixed until now (they don't make 'em like that anymore!!). Anyway I've found it impossible to seperate the head gea...

thanks to both of you the washer supplied with the waste isn't great at all-very flimsy. I've taken it all back out, cleaned it up, and re-sealed everything (using loads of sealant!) and it works!! It seems there's no such thing as too much sealant. Oh and I've taken on board comment about cheap was...

Leaking basin waste

Hi can anybody help please? I've just fitted a new basin/taps etc. I sealed the new basin waste between the plastic back nut and the basin with sealant (as it says in all the books and the waste instructions), and I also sealed around the back nut-and tightened it as tight as I could. Put the trap o...
