Thanks roseberry. Glad to hear I can just use standard filler (polyfiller, or whatever). Only thought on NMN because I read another thread on here which suggested it as filling material for holes, might have got the wrong end of the stick, though. Unfortunately there are no reveals above the windows...

Holes in plasterboard from rawl plugs

I'll confess that this is actually a ceiling question, not a wall question, but I hope the principles are the same. (Didn't seem to be anywhere suitable for this question other than here!) We have a bedroom in our 2 year old extension. So far as I know, it's a standard plasterboard construction, but...

Pressurised system keeps losing pressure

We have a recently overhauled pressurised heating system, with the big, red pressure balancing ball in the airing cupboard. We know that the pressure in the system should not be allowed to drop below 1 bar and generally we fill it to about 2 bar. However, we are finding that the system is losing abo...

Peter the plumber said: "This does affect young children and there some research that it can be one of the causes of childhood asthma." According to research over recent years, childhood asthma is caused by too much ventilation, too little ventilation, too much cleaning/dusting and too lit...

Hang on, what do you mean "never using the vents is heading for trouble"? Have none of you people heard of windows? Windows are natural ventilation and have the added advantage of not using extra electricity. So far as I can tell, my 70 year old house has survived the first 69 years of its...

How to stop extractor vents rattling in the wind?

Hi, we had an extension built earlier this year. Per building regulations, we had extractor fans installed in each new bathroom, cloakroom and utility. Each extractor has its own electrical isolator switch and, to be honest, we usually leave them permanently off. However, we have a problem with them...

Problem with builder - how should I respond?

Apologies in advance, for what will probably be a long post! I had a fairly major extension done to my house and went fixed price with a reputable builder, using the FMB Plain English, Domestic Building Contract. Total contract was £53K + VAT. Now, I won't go into all the pain and hassle of living ...

Do bathrooms and floorboards mix?

We're putting new bathrooms in our extension that is being built at present. By default, we're installing floating green chipboard flooring throughout the new areas of house, upstairs and down. We have been debating long and hard over our preferred flooring for the new bathrooms. Initially we consid...
