the mixer tap is a simple 'divert' valve, whether a lever or a plunger type... Do you mean - when the water is diverted to the shower, you still get a small 'leak' out of the tap? Is it such a big problem??? If you want to take it apart, (turn the water off) and unscrew it, probably with a large adj...

Mine's lagged, all 6 inches of it!

During the winter, i close the valve and leave the tap open, so any freezing will expand out the tap and not swell and burst the pipe. (Just remember the taps on when you turn it all back on!)

By 'instant heat shower' i presume you mean a heater and pump in one, connected to the mains cold water? If so - your best (and easiest) option is to consider fitting a higher kW unit... (after checking the wiring/fuse can cope!) i'm not sure that boosting the mains pressure to an instant heater wil...
