are there any vents in those rooms, if so make sure the pipe in the vent is falling down towards the external wall.

get a moisture reading on the wall and if it below 15% then paint the patch with an oil based paint ie undercoat and about 300mm beyond the patch, let it dry and then paint with your normal emulsion. The under coat will stop any brown stains from showing through.
