hi , check plumbers-1 he has right idea expensive but good more efficient at storage plus h/water backup via emmersion you may get away with smaller boiler get it sized properly. all the best john

hi dougie simply drain all the system and add inhibitor when refilling use a good make ie,sentinel fernox etc there is no advantage in part draining however on a 24 year old system it may be time to consider new rads especialy if black sludge is found , all the best john

hi its antique by the sounds of it . its a direct system as described there is no coil just connections to the cylinder very inefficient . all the best john

boiler sludge

hi if your boiler has been diagnosed with sludge you have to clean the system using sludge remover then neutralizer and then when all is clear add inhibitor and not before, this takes a lot of time to do properly 4/6hrs is common best idea is to have the system jet flushed. as the amount of chemical...
