Thanks for the advice i think reboarding the ceiling is what might be best. ive actually recently reinsulated the loft and i gues it could get messy, but it seems the best choice if a lot a work.

The Air Vent in my lounge lets in loads of cold air, British Gas are doing my cavity wall insulation and have said that they will fit one that will prevent the air from coming in however this will cost £52, where can i buy one of these and what am i looking for and do they just replace the existing ...
