Thank you also for taking the time to consider and comment upon my predicament. The pump has to be somewhere but I would never have though about looking in the upstairs room.

The central heating in my small two-up two-down terraced house is not working properly. A back boiler is installed in the fireplace with a radiant heater in front. I suggest that your system needs to be rebalanced. This is an easy task to undertake though involves a bit of running round.

There is an excellent description of how to do this in the project section of this forum.

Jim, When was the last time this radiator work? You said no air came out but did any water come out? Are both valves on the radiator open? You should be able to operate one by hand the other will be a lock shield value and you'll need to loosen the shield and then operate the valve. Remember the old...

Hi S, As you have found out the acoustical performance of ordinary stud walls leaves much to be desired. There is no cheap way of improving the performance of such structures. The noise transmission through the wall could be reduced by increasing the surface mass of the wall and introducing damping....
