Re: No Power to Boiler Control Panel and More I Suspect!

It's a pity you didn't remove the cover of the junction box before deciding to change the valve. If one of the wires from the cylinder thermostat was disconnected the old valve will not have worked correctly. The red sleeve on the "earth wire" indicates that it is being used to carry volta...

Re: Central Heating Pump Keeps Running all Night

Your boiler has "pump overrun" so the pump is connected directly to the boiler. The pump should run for a few minutes after the call for heat has ended. If the pump runs continuously when the boiler is off the overrun control is faulty. You will need a Gas Safe qualified engineer to repair...

Re: New Build Installation Regulations for Gas Appliance Installation

Can anyone tell me if it is illegal to install gas appliances, including boiler and associated pipe work into a new build you are building to sell (not live in at all)? My understanding was that it is, unless certified by a Gassafe Engineer. The boiler must be installed, connected, tested and commi...

Re: New Central Heating in Bungalow can I put Boiler on Wall?

Hanging the boiler on the wall is "work on a gas fitting" according to the regulations and must be done by a Gas Safe registered person.

So the answer to your question is NO!

Re: Advice Needed for Purchase of New Boiler Need to be Good Value for Money

Do you mean combi (instant hot water, so no HW cylinder) or a condensing boiler? (It's a common confusion.) Incidentally, all new boilers have to be condensing. If you are thinking of a combi boiler, you have to check that it would be suitable. This depends on the incoming cold water flow rate. You ...

Re: Baxi Solo Boiler Controlled by Honeywell Controller Having Heating and Hot Water Issues

I thought the wire from terminal 2 of the cylinder stat might be missing. When the cylinder reaches temperature the stat switches over so there is voltage on terminal 2. The wire goes to the grey wire on the mid-position valve. When there is voltage on the grey wire the valve should switch over to C...

Re: Baxi Solo Boiler Controlled by Honeywell Controller Having Heating and Hot Water Issues

Are there three wires connected to the tank thermostat? (ignore any wire connected to an earth terminal.)

Don't know that particular model, but are there any slots around the edge of the stat which can take a small screwdriver? If so, the screwdriver will release the hidden catches

Re: Vitodens 200-W Replacement Combi Boiler

We have a 4 bed house and are looking to replace our Glow-worm 30hxi with a combi boiler or at least something that can give us instant hot water for 2 bathrooms. What's wrong with the 30hxi? Have you measured your incoming cold water flow rate and dynamic pressure? You will need at least 20 litres...

Re: Boiler Replacement Question on Current Gravity Fed and Pumped Heating System

Since my last post I've been thinking of possibly installing a System Boiler to eliminate the F & E tank & therefore it's vent pipe. I may also consider going over to a combi-boiler since there is a 22 mm pipe feeding all my hot water taps and a cold mains water feed pipe right next to wher...

Re: Boiler Replacement Question on Current Gravity Fed and Pumped Heating System

There is no requirement to fit a cylinder thermostat on your current installation. If you decide to install a new boiler then you must convert it to fully pumped, to meet current Building Regulations. The Regulations also specify that you must fit an 'interlock' to turn the boiler off when heating i...

Re: Combi hot tap shuts OFF!!

I need to measure the flow of every tap / shower You need to know the incoming cold water flow rate and pressure. Pressure needs a special gauge but it can be estimated. There are two places where you can measure the flow rate: Garden tap or Kitchen sink cold tap. The garden tap is preferable as ma...

Re: Is baxi instant 105e PCB compatible with baxi 105e combi

The PCB for Instant 105E is Baxi Part No E68347; for the 105E it is H01109. So the parts are not compatible.

Re: Replacement for Gloworm Mastermind Timeswitch

The Glowworm Mastermind is a two channel timer (Heating and Hot Water); the C17 is a single channel timer. You have bought the wrong timer.

You need the C27.
