Thanks Plumbbob. Ah well, at least I can stop searching. It is a rich field for an inventor to make his first million ! Access to a 13A socket to supply power {for a time switch} and a simple on/off valve, to replace the thermostatic valve,would suffice. It would not even need the expense of a motor...

I have an oil guzzling boiler, and shut down individual rads [when I remember] during periods when the rooms are out of use e.g. bedrooms, dining room etc. This is a chore and I do not always remember.
