Hi Mustard, It sounds feasible to preheat the input to the boiler but for solar you need a cylinder to store the heat from the panels and to even out fluctuations when there is no solar available i.e. at night. Also many will boilers will not accept preheated water or restrictions on the max tempera...

I am wondering if there could be an airlock somewhere, therefore restricting the flow, possible in the coil (although that does not explain why the in/out out temps should be the same so quickly.
Is it a twin coil cylinder? Could you try connecting to the solar coil as a test?

I think there are valid points in all these replies. My preference, certainly for the pool heating would be a solar roof if you are building and extension and there is a south facing section. The minimal cost would be greatly offset by reduced need for conventional roofing materials. We supply and i...

I think the main problem of not using a storage cylinder is that when there is no heat from the sun, i.e. at night you will have no pre-heat for your boiler Having a cylinder will even out the fluctuation in energy available. Also using radiators, I have seen experimental projects like that before b...

Hi, How about using a "conventional" underfloor heating system with flexible PEX pipe & a mixing valve. I agree with the suggestion of using several circuits & embedding the pipes in a dry mix to increase the thermal mass & conduction but would certainly not even consider using...
