Scratched window pane.

Just discovered that one window pane has scratch marks on it. Probably done when we had the lintel replaced a few years ago. Is there any way I can get rid of them? Jewwller's Rouge(Whatever that is!) has been suggested. Any advice welcomed. Thanks

New Boiler?

We have a 12year old boiler which works fine. Supposed to be 72% efficient. With the price of gas very unlikely to become cheaper I'm wondering if it will be worthwhile, financially, to change to a condensing boiler.(95% efficiency?) How much gas does a pilot light use?

Stipping paint off metal chair

What is the easiest way of stripping paint off a metal chair? I've been given an alumunium(?) garden chair and the paint is chipped etc in many places. I'd like to strip it back to the bare metal but I'm not sure what to use. Any ideas?

Brown water stain in toilet bowl

A brown stain has suddenly appeared at the back of the toilet bowl. I assume it is a water stain but the water from the cistern is perfectly clean and there is no staining anywhere else.
Any ideas as to how I can stop the stain re-appearing?

Grouting between Indian Stone Paving

The latest frost has ruined some grouting re-done lasgt September. The builder obviously used the wrong mix as the grouting ( what's left of it!) is still 'pink' and not grey like the remainder. What mix should I use to replace the latest grouting? The original, which is grey-cement coloured, has be...

One or two pipe CH system?

I have a one pipe system in my new house. Will it be as efficient as a two pipe system? The boiler looks a little old. Will a new boiler operate a one pipe CH system?

Cleaning Indian Stone

Just jet washed our indian stone driveway. Very pleased with the result other than for a few patches where there are black spots. Probably lichen (or similar). Anybody know of a product I can use to remove the spots?

Rust Stains

I'm about to paint the porch and I've noticed some rust stains where nails have been painted over. What can I do to stop the same thing happening again?

Smell of smoking from next door

We live in a 30's semi and we have a problem with the smell of cigarette and pipe smoke from next door coming through to our bedrooms. I am at a loss as to what we can do to stop the smell. There are no apparent gaps or airbricks in the chimney etc. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?
