Jointing Compound?

Hello, Can someone please tell me the difference between so-called plasterboard jointing compound and all-purpose filler? Are the two interchangeable? Or what names is jointing compound known by (cannot find it anywhere)? I'm patching drywall so hoping to use this to bed down paper tape... something...

Re: Installing downlights

Ok - so they do not actually need to be bonded to the light casing..? Just terminated at the fitting (in the same way as for a plastic light switch e.g. where the earth is terminated in a connector strip but just left in the back box) Forgive me for saying so (am not sure I understand the principle)...

Re: Installing downlights

Great, thanks very much. Very useful info.

Do I need to get earth bonding of some sort or do most of the fittings actually have an earth terminal - despite saying don't use one...?

Re: Installing downlights

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking to install them in the hallway (plasterboard ceiling) There is currently a pendant and the property is a new build. The hall is next to a bathroom in which are currently installed downlights - so I assume at this point the hall ceiling is of a similar construction. ...

Installing downlights

Hello,

I would like to install some downlights. Can someone please give a view on:

1) What the regulations are around 240v vs. 12v?
2) Can I remove the existing ceiling rose and replace with a junction box in the ceiling?

Many thanks

Another question about moving a light switch!

Hello all, I have a a 4-way light switch in one room which I would like to move to the hall. I can't easily access rose connections as they are all over the place so fully replacing switch cables is not an easy option. I've considered extending the existing cables back up the wall using 1.5mm, runni...
