Hope it works well now :)

Thanks for your reply, certainly sounds like a good scheme, and saves on the need for 'dimmers', now I've just got to think about what style of lighting to use to make the most of it :)

Hmmm... good point. I am in 2 minds regarding the lighting really, and I have truely reached a point where I just can't decide. I either go with one set of lighting and fit a dimmer as described, (but now need to account for CFU as you have said :) ), or else I have 2 different lighting circuits, on...

Bathroom lights on a dimmer switch

In it's current setup my bathroom has the fairly usual arrangement of a single ceiling light, and a pull cord switch just inside the bathroom doorway. I am thinking of removing the single ceiling light, and instead having a few 'Shower' sunken downlights in the ceiling, but I would like these on a d...

Ok, so SELV led lamps, with the transformer located outside the bathroom, and the bath side panel SCREWED to the bath frame would seem to cover all the above points.

Many thanks to all :D

Many thanks PB, the room is now all stripped back and coated with PVA. got the bonding plaster so will be fixing up any of the holes that I think are too big for just adhesive, but were too small to be patched with plasterboard sections.

Many thanks for your advice :)

Cheers, I didn't realise that I would be able to ask LACB for information. I was thinking that I would likely use SELV anyway, as whatever 'zone' they are classed as I would think that there is always a risk of water dripping down over them. Something like the LED lamps should be suitable I think? W...

Lights in Bath side Panel

I'm thinking of doing a bath panel with led lights in.

What 'zone' would the lights need to be? From what I've read 'under the bath' is unzoned, but at the same time I'm thinking water splashed over the side, or dripped, would mean that probably zone 0 / 1 would be needed?

Thanks :)

Thanks, the boards on the whole do seem sound, it's literally just the surface paper that has come off. One board that I did damage a bit (and will need to be patched) I decided to open out the hole a bit so I could see what was behind it, and it seems that there is an egg-crate type construction go...

Soundproofing under bathroom

I am in the process of refitting our bathroom at the moment. The bathroom toilet is located above the living room, and one thing that has always bugged me is that if it is quiet (ish) in the living room you can hear everything going on in the bathroom - not good. Is there anything I can use to isola...

I was under the impression that plasterboard didn't need to be plastered before tiling too.... was I wrong about that?

Thanks :)

I'm quite happy to skim the walls myself, but I'd be worried that the plaster might not bond to the plasterboard very well, and then when I hang the tiles on it I could end up with the tiles AND the plaster coming off of the board?

State of plasterboard walls after removing tiles

I am in the middle of stripping out my bathroom suite, and am also removing all the existing ceramic wall tiles, and will be replacing with new. The removing is going reasonably well, but it is removing the surface paper from the plasterboard in most places, as shown in the photos: What do I need to...

uPVC Window Pushes Out when closed

Hi, I've just moved into a house with uPVC windows, and I've noticed a couple of them have the same problem. They are all of the type with the bottom of the window swinging out to open, with the 'hinged' edge being the top of the window, (although the actual hinges are on the side edges of the windo...
