Re: Replacing sealant around bathtub

"widest part of the cut at bath edge level so as to give a good bead join here"... that actually makes sense... will do that, have the arrowhead pointing up.

Cheers

Re: Replacing sealant around bathtub

@stoneyboy... Just to clarify do you mean cut an arrowhead (50mm up) pointing down as shown in the attached photo?

Thanks

Replacing sealant around bathtub

Hi, I'm about to replace the sealant around the bathtub but have a quick question. First, assume that I've removed the old sealant (only around the bathtub edge where it meets the wall tiles), then cleaned the gap thoroughly with methylated spirit, and now ready to apply the new sealant (Dow 785+). ...

Re: Flushing Central Heating System After Sentinel X400 Cleaner Added

Think I have my answer...posted this question on another forum and it seems I was given bad advice by the engineer who visited... ie definitely not a good idea to flush system with the boiler and pump running, even if the cold isolation valve is open to allow mains pressure water into the CHS.

Flushing Central Heating System After Sentinel X400 Cleaner Added

Hi, I added some Sentinel X400 cleaner to my central heating system and I’m due to flush the system soon. (Sentinel Tech Support recommended leaving the X400 for 2-3weeks before flushing) My boiler is a glowworm micron 60ff (it’s not a combi) and I have a sealed system with an expansion vessel. I ha...

Re: Fixing Picture Frame Mouldings to Wall Papered Brick Wall

Update... decided not to do the wainscoting now, seems like too much hard work and might get bored of it and then it'll be a nightmare to take off! :)

Fixing Picture Frame Mouldings to Wall Papered Brick Wall

Hello all, I found this youtube video on how to create a wainscot effect by fixing picture frame mouldings to the wall (m). A nail gun is being used in the video, but my walls are solid brick with several layers of wallpaper which I'm not overly keen on stripping! So looking for suggestions on best ...

Advice on Correct Mixture of Concrete for Front Drive Repair

Hi, I need some advice on getting the right concrete mixture for repairing my front drive. There's two small patches of the front drive that stick out like a sore thumb. I think someone just mixed sand & cement (mostly cement!) so the patches look a silvery grey or off white colour and have a sm...

Choosing a Jet Washer or Power Washer?

(Apologies if I'm posting this question in the wrong forum!) Hi, I need some advice choosing a jet/pressure washer. It'll probably get used just a few times a year, to clean the patio & drive, and occasionally clean the car (though I'd prefer to just take the car to a car wash!). I know you get ...

Re: Excessive Moss on Asbestos Corrugated Roof

Decided to do the job myself, instead of using a contractor. But I don't have any boards that I can use to stand on whilst working on the roof. I thought of using a couple of scaffolding boards, but it's not something Wickes sell??? Can someone please advice what I can use as a crawling board while ...

Re: Excessive Moss on Asbestos Corrugated Roof

Thanks for the advice. I contacted a local roofer and he has given me a quote of £590, and for that he said he would... "clean the roof of all moss, seal any cracks with seal tape, and coat whole roof area with industrial sealer with added fibres". Is this a reasonable quote?... to be hone...

Excessive Moss on Asbestos Corrugated Roof

Hi, I have an asbestos corrugated garage roof, approximately 2.4m by 6.5m. The roof has considerable moss growing on it, and because my house is pebble dashed there are lots of stone pebbles scattered along the roof edging. The roof has started to leak in a few places, mainly where the roof butts up...
