Nope, obviously length of cable will effect pricing but they all do the same job. Build quality may be something to think about but if you're planning on plugging it in and leaving it be that shouldn't be an issue either. When it comes to a Sony HDMI cable your paying for the privilege of the name...

I don't know how big this tree is but you could give cutting it back yourself a go. If you can get it down to the stump drill some holes in it and pour in some accelerator to help kill it off quicker. Then dig up what's left. I agree about checking whether it is protected or not though.

I don't have an exhaustive step by step guide but one thing I know from experience is please make sure it is level lengthways as well as widthways. My husband excitedly dug ours and ensured it was completely level across its entire width. Happy with the finished product he filled it with water only ...

I was going to suggest beeswax too. Either one should create a thicker layer than WD40
