Fitting `p` shaped bath with side panel

Hi all, I am about to purchase a 1700mm `P` shaped bath to replace my old 1600 bath. At one end of the bath that I have now there have been tiles fitted on some timber that overhand the bath to cover the 80mm gap between wall and bath, the bath is 1600mm. I do not want the same gap from a new bath b...

If your packs of laminate flooring are made up of lengths of laminate with 3 or 4 tiles effect per length then staggering them is the right way but if you packs are singular tiled planks (eg: Quick Step 800 tiled laminate) then you can not stagger the joints unless you want the `brick joint` effect..

I would suggest bonding an an artex ceiling first with 1 coat bonding, then while still damp but not wet lay your first skim coat on.. I find bonding on artex is easier and gives a better base for good finish with multifinish skim.. also slows down the drying due to moisture in the bonding.. I am pr...

Stainless or Carbon steel trowels?

What are your opinions on Trowels. Stainless or Carbon steel? Reason I ask is that at the moment being fairly new to plastering (6 months) I have been using marshaltown stainless 11" trowels, I am moving onto a 14" trowel and wondered what preferences are regarding material. An old plaster...

Hi Vix, You will need to scrape as much of the bitumen up as is possible.. more the better. Then apply a 2 part epoxy liquid membrane as instructions on tin, you can then screed/level the floor. If you do not add the epoxy dpm and just screed you will either get water between the screed and vinyl or...

A concrete drill bit is what you need, not a masonry drill bit.. There is a difference.. The hammer action on your drill is not really visibly noticeable but when you apply pressure it will vibrate violently, this is the hammer working... Don be tempted to use all your strength to drill, firm pressu...

Quick-step laminate is my laminate of choice then Witex. Great product and is made to be fitted unlike some others! You have the benefit with Quick-step of being able to tap the product together on a flat plane(not 40%) if you need to fit under objects...eg. architraves/kitchen Units...Also the thre...

Hi Paul, I have just got my foot in the plastering door, my advice would be to leave the large ceiling to an expert and practice on some smaller walls. You will just get frustrated and end up paying someone to finish/make good... I have successfully turned my hands to lots of things in the past(like...
