You can do either, but I would advise to pay the little extra and buy the fire rated downlighters. Easier to fit and better peace of mind

I would put the light switches and sockets to match your existing. The building inspector from the council should have no problem with this. They are only really fussy about socket and switch positions on new builds.

Adding a Second Light Fitting to Run off Existing Switch

I have installed a second light which I wish to run off the existing switch. The existing pendant has 3 lots of 1.0mm t&e running into it. Do I connect via jb to one of these or do I connevt straight into pendant with my 1.0mm t&e from my new light?
