Fitting new Expansion Tank and not Filling With Water

Hi I'm in the process of replacing an expansion tank on my home heating system. First time I've encountered one of these. I've fit the new tank and repressurised the water but the tank doesn't seem to be filling with water. As I understand it, the tank is meant to be half(ish) full with a bladder of...

Re: Transformer For Spotlights in Bathroom not Working

I promise I'll double check/test the lampholder again before ordering the new transformer!

Thanks - your advice is much appreciated.

Re: Transformer For Spotlights in Bathroom not Working

One other question. As I stated, the existing transformer has an output of 3-60W, which is obviously a range. I'm looking at one on the web which is 48W - does this mean it will work from 0 to 48W or just 48W exactly (seems unlikely?). Thanks.

Re: Transformer For Spotlights in Bathroom not Working

Many thanks for your reply. Thanks for clarifying all that - was pretty much what I thought but wasn't 100% sure. It's not a loose connection or the lamp holder as I've swapped about the various parts (including the transformer) and the transformer is the weak link each time. What baffled me complet...

Transformer For Spotlights in Bathroom not Working

Hi All I'm fairly DIY handy but don't know much about electrics but need advice on bathroom spotlights issue. We had a bathroom wired (by a pro) with 4 spots, each of which has its own transformer. The details on them says: Prim: 220-240V~50Hz 60VA Cos=0.99. SEC: 11.5V~rms MAX 4.9A 3-60W which means...

Re: Heated Water From Immersion into the Boiler Cold Water Supply Pipe?

OK well thanks for your opinion.

Would still like thoughts from others please as to whether there is anything to stop one supplying a fuel boiler with hot water instead of cold. I can't see why it wouldn't work but interested in any opinions to the contrary.

Re: Heated Water From Immersion into the Boiler Cold Water Supply Pipe?

Thanks Proptech. It's because my fuel boiler is a little underpowered for the house since we created an extension with extra bathroom, radiators etc. If the heating is on and 2 people are showering in two of the bathrooms, the boiler often stops and goes into standby mode - I guess it overheats. So ...

Heated Water From Immersion into the Boiler Cold Water Supply Pipe?

Hi New to the forum and no expert on plumbing so please go easy on me and any help/advice would be much appreciated! I'd like to know if I can supply a fuel-fired boiler with hot water from an immersion heater. So instead of cold water going into the boiler to be heated and then sent out, hot water ...
