Get the walls plasterer first, then fit the kitchen. it will be far easier for the plasterer to plaster a bare wall than going around kitchen units etc.

If the hole isnt to big you can get something to stuff in there like wool insualtion, a empty bag of plaster or some bricks leaving about a 200mm gap to fill, then you will need to use bonding to build the gap out before you skim.
