Re: My extension & my neighbour

I doubt it - I don't think he intends to seek approval from the planners or building control.

Re: My extension & my neighbour

Thanks Stoneyboy. The difficult part is precisely establishing the boundary line. Some one suggested that this could be ascertained from the centre line of the chimney.

My extension & my neighbour

Comrades, my next-door neighbour happened to mention that, maybe next year, he intends installing decking over his wee back yard and possible over his single-storey extension. He said he intends to connect his joists to my extension (23) on one side and to his extension (25) on the other side of his...

Fixing Crack Running Down 190mm Floorboards

Floor.jpg Many years ago, I put down T&G floorboards in the bedroom. I've ripped up the carpet in the landing to continue T&G into the landing. The problem is that, when I did the bedroom, I used a 190mm, plain board to avoid a joint over the pipes. It seemed a good idea at the time but, ov...

Masonry Paint over Oil-based Paint

The front of my terraced-house has always been painted with oil-based gloss. I want to use a masonry paint instead - is this possible. If so, would a thorough abrasion with a wire brush suffice to key the surface?

Also, would you recommend, Sandtex, Johnstone's or Dulux?

Parquet Fingers and What's the Best Adhesive to Use?

I've had a burst pipe fixed in my hall but I've saved the parquet flooring that had to be lifted for the repair.

I hope to re-lay the parquet and I'm wondering which adhesive to use, if not the original bitumen-type.

Door Knob Spring Broken off and how to Repair?

My bathroom door handle's movement was sluggish, so on removal, I saw that one of the little spring pins had broken off.

Can I buy a new spring or do I need to buy a new handle set?

Repairing Oak Table Burn Mark

The wife has tried to set fire to our lovely oak table via her oil burner. Any ideas on how to fix/disguise it other than sticking a vase on top?

Tough sealer for Parquet Flooring

My floor has always been sealed with Bourne Seal since I laid it 25 years ago.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend something tougher which can be applied over the sanded Bourne Seal.

This is the type of floor:

Thanks for that. In the meantime, I'm going to borrow a friend's moisture meter.
