Thanks for the reply Eric. Good suggestions but I don't think that set up will work in my case because I'm thinking of either a traditional vintage style ceiling rose, with a long flex to meet the light, or a 'regular' rose or with a different colour cover. e.g.

Far too Many Lighting Connections at the Ceiling Rose

Hello the first ceiling rose in my house has 6 x 1.5mm twin and earth cables going into it. See pic. And it is way too busy for a single ceiling rose. I've now re-made all the connections using wago connectors (pic to follow) and I am no aiming to get them protected, into a box and into the ceiling ...

Closing Fireplace Gap to Meet Fireplace Insert

Hello The fireplace insert i have doesn't quite reach the top of the fireplace opening (see pic) can anyone offer any advice how best to close this gap so I can fit the insert to the wall with a seal of bonding plaster? Thanks for the reply. That was my thinking too. External wood must endure more moisture so Ronseal way seems the most logical. The wood is external (treated) wood as well, so hopefully that should do the job.
