Re: surge protection socket

Thank you for the responses, they have been very useful.
I have found another option which has a more palatable price tag M2 Surge protection socket (https://www.videk.co.uk/section.php/1437/) but I am now considering having surge protection added to the consumer panel.

surge protection socket

Hi, I am having a new fibre line installed and want to provide a power socket for the OTP and Router with surge protection. While I can find many examples of trailing extension sockets with surge protection, there seem to be very few options with it built into the wall socket itself. As I am tight o...

Re: Drilling holes through brick walls

Thank you, I will post the job under general builders and see what responses I get.
I have found companies advertising Diamond core drilling but perhaps my job is a litle small for them.

Drilling holes through brick walls

As part of my extension, I now need to drill out 2 x holes for the toilet waste, 3 x holes for shower and bath water, 3 x holes for 75mm MVHR ducting and 2 x 150mm holes for the MVHR outside connections. Most of these are through the old outside brick cavity wall. Are there companies that I can get ...

Alarm system - Smoke, Heat, Carbon Monoxide

Hi, Looking for recomendations for an alarm system to put into my extension (and retro fit) into the house to cover Smoke alarms, Heat Alarm (I think that is needed in the Kitchen) and a Carbon monoxide alarm. Are these best just endependent devices or is there an integrated system on that market th...

Why are elbow joints 87.5 degrees instead of 90.

Hi
I have been installing some drainage and noticed that with the 110mm pipe the elbow joins are quoted as 87.5 degrees and not 90 degrees.

Does anyone know why?

The 45 degree junctions are quoted at 45 and the ones half that 22.5 so that makes sense but was wondering where the 87.5 came from.

Decomissioning and Removing a Lateral Drain

I am about to build an extension which would build over an existing lateral drain. To avoid that I propose to redirect the lateral drain around the extension. This connects an adjoining property to the sewer on the other boundary across the back of the house. However, I am aware that this drain is n...

Re: Metal Shed on a Concrete Base has Condensation is This due to no Damp Proof Course?

Thank you to Fred c and welch brickie for your posts. Doing some further research myself I came across this site - which had a specific page on metal sheds and condensation. https://www.secrets-of-shed-building.com/condensation-in-metal-sheds.html Perhaps this will help someone else. I can't say tha...

Re: Metal Shed on a Concrete Base has Condensation is This due to no Damp Proof Course?

Shed needs to be lined with membrane and perhaps insulated and lined with timber. Thank you for the advice. If I were to insulate, what would be suitable for a metal shed? I haven't seen anything advertised. Also, would there not be a risk of the condensation forming between the insulation layer an...

Metal Shed on a Concrete Base has Condensation is This due to no Damp Proof Course?

I have a metal shed sitting on a concrete base but there is a large amount of condensation inside. The concrete base forms the floor of the shed and the base extends beyond the walls of the shed. The base is flat and solid. Am I correct in assuming that the reason for the amount of condensation insi...
