Re: Supafil Blown Cavity Insulation turns to Grey Mulch when wet?

Check with the installers, this job will be insurance backed warranty via CIGA. Don't worry too much though, as some of the products are injected wet, and will dry naturally.

Re: Advice on How to Achieve a U Value of 0.13 for my Pitched Roof Loft Conversion

0.13U is a low value, and would be almost impossible to achieve within a 50mm space. Calculating a u-value is very easy, simply take the Lambda value, i.e. Thermal Conductivity: 0.036 W/mK and divide it by the thickness in meters. So the above was for rockwool, 100mm would be 0.036/0.1 giving 0.36U....

Re: Loft Roof Insulation to Achieve 0.18 with 10cm Rafters

You won't achieve 0.18U with 50mm of insulation, unless you used a Vacuum Insulation Panel (which are still very new, very expensive, and rather impractical for roof situations). PIR is the most common material, with a lambda of around 0.021 at the very best, 100mm of this would give 0.21U. If you c...

External Wall Insulation and Ability to Breath

Hi guys, I'm trying to find some solid information (a lot of contradictory reports online) of which way to go with EWI in terms of breathability. Some sites, including kingspan suggest breathability is complete rubbish, but is that just because their insulation isn't breathable? Wood fibre manufactu...
