I would not expect any additional overload on the circuit. What unit was getting hot? Switch, light fitting, transformer/driver, lamp/bulb or something else? Thanks for the response kbrownie. It's the transformer unit in the middle of the light. Could it be the dimmer switch? I guess my options are...
