cast iron to upvc downpipe -80mm?? - help!!

Fistly, can anyone confirm that 100 year old cast iron downpipe is 80mm Just had a builder along to replace 2/3 of my down pipe. He promised that it would be same as the original cast iron. Instead he has fitted a reducer 80 mm to 68mm and finished in the thinner pipe. It looks awful - problem is ex...

Thanks for the reply Martin.

Not too sure how to proceed. The boards are actually 26 mm and are pretty chopped up.

I think I'll lift them and put 20 plus ply down with flexible adhesive.

All this DIY is doing my head in!

Plywood base query

Hi hope this isnt a duplicate post, but i have the following query. Ive read in many places that before laying large travertine tiles on my bathroom floor, I should lay a plywood base of probably 18 mill as opposed to 12 mill. This though would considerably raise the height of the floor from the hal...

lath and plaster fixings

Hi Ive read a lot on here about platerboard fixings but what would be recommended for kithen cabinets to lath and plaster wall? About an inch behind the lath is solid brick. Would it be better to use a long fixing into this, or do you get reliable fixings for the lath and plaster walls? Ta for any a...

15mm bath supply

hello all

is there anything fundamentally wrong with a 15 mm supply to a bath, as opposed to the 22mm, other than it will take longer to fill?

On a combi system if that matters.

Thanks for any advice.

Tartan carpet

Anybody suggest the best place (ie the cheapest) to buy tartan carpet for a stair and landing.

I know it will look at bit 'hotel-ly', but always fancied it.

About 40 quid psm, I've been quoted.

There must be better out there.

Any help appreciated.
