It consisted of strip 4 x outside window frames fill and repair wood one coat undercoat one coat gloss £200 plus materials. leaking toilet

I have leak which seems to be coming from underneath my cistern and dripping onto the floor. I'm no expert in these matters, so please don't laugh, but I think the type of toilet is called 'close coupled'?The cistern sits directly on to the pan. Anyway it is leaking from the joint where the two meet...

Blocked toilet

My son lives in a council flat ( 5 floors up) and has been having terrible problems with his WC continually blocking. He keeps phoning the Council who send round a plumber ( that term is debatable) armed with a plunger. He unblocks the toilet and then gives my son a lecture on the type of toilet pap...

thanks htg engineer, that was exactly what I wanted to know. I mean Joe Public has no idea whether tradesmen ( cough) are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing. At least now I have a rough guide. Incidentally the power flush thing was prompted by a visit from British Gas engineer who hel...

On the subject of power flushes, how long should it take to power flush a system with 10 radiators? i realise that some workmen will do the job quicker than others, but what would be an average sort of time for that job?

Well I did as you said, and took the cover off the (brand new)TRV, pressed the pin a few times and left the cover off. However there was still no improvement. The pipe going into the TRV is really hot, and if only the water/heat would get into the radiator everything would be great, which makes me t...

Hi, first of all thank you both for taking the time to reply, it is greatly appreciated. When the boiler was replaced, all radiators were checked and the system worked as it should. Over a period of time we noticed that the radiator in the living room was not heating up like the rest of the system (...

Is there a heating engineer in the house?

I need a bit of advice. We had a new boiler fitted a year ago, it is covered by the gas board, and it is working correctly. It operates 10 radiators within our home. Every radiator achieves the correct temperature apart from the one in our living room. This one only gets lukewarm, but the pipe at th...

[quote="marrtin"]Good heavens, that's a good gap! Round the base of shower trays, I use plastic soffit board supplied by a local facia trade store. They also do a similar but thinner strip that will bend easily to the "P" shape, and only costs a few quid. Only in white though, bu...

Mind the gap

Hi folks, I have installed my new 'P' shaped bath, and fitted on the bath panel. However the floor is running off, and I have a size-able gap (35mm) at one end. I was looking for some form of plastic beading to put along the front to finish it off. Is there anything anyone could recommend? Any advic...

Heated towel rail

Hi folks, I just installed a B&Q towel rail which is working perfectly. However after I did the installation I wondered whether I should have installed a thermostatic valve on it? 1) Is it possible to install a thermostatic valve on a towel rail? and if so..... 2) Can someone recommend a type wh...
