thank you, for detailed post, that makes heck of a lot of sense . I will be trying the test today, shower time before bed and school next day.

I'll look at a more powerful fan .

The last owners of the house installed a sort of bog standard extractor fan in the ceiling corner furthest away from the shower/bath . could another fan flexi tube be connected via a 2-1 fitting and use the same junction box in the loft to power it.
