You're right it is gas not electric. The option to replace the back boiler is in my mind but I was fishing for a cheaper alternative as the boiler, apparently, is in very good working order.
I have bought a beautiful 1950's house which has a back boiler with a hideous electric fire half way up the chimney breast.
Is it possible to buy a better looking alternative?
