Replacing F+E Tank Ball Valve

Hi There - Just a quick query please to check that I do not have to do anything special when replacing the ball valve in my F+E Tank. I will obviously shut off the incoming mains water at the stop cock before I start. I do not think that I need to drain the F+E tank, as the water level is quite low ...

Hi and Thanks for the reply. Apologies for sounding a bit dim but I am not clear on what you are really asking? The Central heating F+E tank is obviously a lot smaller than the cold water tank that feeds the hot water cylinder and so it's water level is always going to be lower is it not? If the pro...

Hi There - yes I have tried changing the thermostat and it is still not working.
I think that I might get a new tank and immersion fitted at the same time and do it it one hit as it were, as the old tank does not keep the water hot for very long.

Many thanks for the suggestion - I think that I might get someone in to replace it as the more I read about the possibility of damaging the tank, the more apprehensive I am about doing it!!

Does anyone know what sort of charge I can expect if I get someone in to replace it for me?

Thanks Again

Testing immersion heater THermostat

Hi There - I wonder if someone could please help me, or point in the the right direction. I have recently moved into a new property and the immersion heater is not working, in that it does not heat any water in the cylinder at all. I have left it on for 2 hours and the water is still cold. I have pu...

Thanks again for the additional information Marrtin.

I am away for the new year period and so will get brave in the new year and get the motor off and see what is happening exactly.

I will report back on progress.

Andrew.

Thanks again Marrtin - I really do find this stuff quite interesting, for some reason. As you say, when I remove the power to the diverter, the spring returns to the 'closed' position and I can hear a slight whurr, which must be the motor returning to it's home position. If I then re-apply the power...
