Thanks. Got all of that. Puzzled by talk of an FCD earlier in the thread. I am looking to install a socket 8m away from the existing one so appreciate the advice about 2.5m cable and the need for fuses. That said, isn’t a FCD a switch? Do I need to install that between the existing and new sockets?

Inaccurate info given. Should have said 2 red and 2 black into the existing switch. New cable is of course 1 brown, 1 blue and an earth. How then do I create a further double socket some 8m on the other side of the garage?

Flummoxed by what should be a simple wiring job! Trying to run the cable from an existing double socket a distance of about 8m to a new double socket in the garage. Existing comes from an RCD with 2 red, 2 blue and 2 earth into the socket. The second set of wires feeds 2 on/switches serving a water ...
