Re: How to fix door handle with wrecked thread

Thank you. I finally got it off with the help of some 3in1. It wouldn't go back on flush, but have swapped handles with one in a less conspicious place, so all sorted.

How to fix door handle with wrecked thread

One of my door handles has come away from the door and I need to screw it back on, but I can't remove the collar that covers the screws as it won't turn. It never sat completely flush, and I vaguely remember the carpenter who fitted it years ago saying there was an issue with the thread. Any suggest...

I have been wanting to thank you for ages but for some reason couldn't get website to open. Your solution worked, so saved me a plumbers bill - thank you so much!

Loud humming noise when hot taps run

Last week I had a leaky main stopcock replaced, which seems fine but since then when I run hot tap there is a loud buzzing/humming noise coming from the attic. I called the plumber who did the repair and he just said he had no idea what would cause that. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Repairing crumbling mortar in garage before painting

Replacing Tatty Immersion Hot Water Switch

As part of a decoration project I'd like to replace the tatty old switch for my immersion heater. It is a small square plate with a red light bar above the switch and the words Hot Water below - must be over 20 years old. Can I just replace the switch plate without buying a new back box? If so, woul...
