Hi jintynut,
Sorry to hear you have health issues and will have to employ a contractor.
I suspect that if you try drilling a 14mm hole in the centre concrete core, that you may split it. How about drilling 6.5mm holes, screwing in 100x6mm stainless screws and casting around them.

Hi whydidistartthis ,
Provided your external cladding is weatherproof the is little to be gained by including a layer of breathable felt.
Inevitably in cold weather damp will condense on the inside of the cold exterior cladding, a breathable membrane will not prevent this.

I don’t think your proposal will work because the drill stand action will just lift the whole assembly as you try to drill a hole.

You will have to use a good quality drill and drill bit.. I’d suggest Hilti but there may be others so try hiring one..

From your question I assume the pipe in the right top of your photo is a flue pipe. It’s most likely to be a twin walled flue but you need to check with whoever services your boiler that it’s ok to box it in. If you get the ok use plasterboard not plywood.

Hi Timc93,
Add a piece of you 4x2 on top of the two vertical studs either side of the proposed window, then add further vertical studs on this and up to a horizontal ceiling stud. The short vertical studs will be inset to allow for the consumer unit and the soil pipe.

Since you have breathable felt fitted both under the tiles and under the rafters with ventilation between the two you should not have any issues with condensation.
