Re: Damp Along Edges of Concrete Shed Floor

Hi The water is getting in between the top of the slab and the underside of the first course of blocks. The DPC stops water moving vertically, not horizontally. The bed joint soaks up water that lands on the external section of the slab and it is transferred through the mortar, inside. This doesn’t ...

Re: Moving and Getting rid of an old Washing Machine Alone

Hi Rob In terms of dismantling the machine, yes you can do this and move it bit by bit, but please make sure it has been disconnected from etc electric supply first before you start pulling it apart. In respect to the electrical supply for the new machine, once the old one has been disconnected, it ...

Re: Flashing Leak in Conservatory on Rear of Property When Raining

Hi

The flashing, unless there is some “unseen” water barrier, should be on top of the slate with soakers under and over every course.

Re: What is Best Wall Covering in a Shower Room

It’s really a case of horses for courses - some prefer to be as safe as possible and insure in the unlikely event of a leak that damage will be limited by using marine ply. Using standard ply should also be fine and will ensure rigidity across the frame and the ova will provide a waterproof seal and...

Re: Newly Rendered Wall Letting in Water

Hi No worries - In terms of Tyrollean, essentially this is really just a form of render and often used to cover poor quality existing render or brickwork (more on this here: m) It may be the case that a good couple of coats of paint will resolve the issue, but unfortunately this won’t be known until...

Re: Newly Rendered Wall Letting in Water

Hi On looking, it looks like possibly a roof leak so probably worth giving the roof area a really good going over just to check and make sure there's nothing causing the leak anywhere. Also, check over the render very carefully for any cracks, no matter how small they may be. If you do find any, you...

Re: Gravity Feed Pump Pulsating for First Couple of Minutes

Hi

Without being able to lok at the setup it's a bit hard to diagnose. A few possible causes could be an air lock in the pump or even the pump itself is faulty.

Unfortunately your best bet is to get a plumber in to take a look

Re: Advice on Correct Mixture of Concrete for Front Drive Repair

Hi It looks like a kind of pebble dash effect on the original concrete e.g. concrete mixed with a multi mix gravel (there are many different types - barley corn gravel, buff quartz, golden gravel etc….) you would need to find a match for the original that was used. You would then need to mixup your ...

Re: Shower Pump Problems and Getting Hot and Cold to Mix Correctly

There may now be too much pressure in the system overall or to one of the feeds e.g. too much hot pressure, too much cold pressure, worth checking how much there is in the system and also the operating pressures for the mixer itself

Re: Dripping in Toilet Tank and can’t Seem to Affect it

Hi

There should be no water inlet near the flush buttons so it shouldn't be them. You will have to take the lid off and watch the inside of the cistern to see to see where the drips are coming from

Hope this helps
