There should not be any problems but you may need to fit some vent valves at strategic points on the first floor. You also need to consider where to put drainage valves.

I doubt a low level vent behind a wardrobe will solve this problem. Your son needs to open a window when he is in the room or you can buy a de-humidifier.

Suggest you make sure the flexibles are not strained in any direction and put the pump on a piece of rubber. If you paid £150 or less for the pump you should expect it to be noisy.
