armytouch, As I understand what you are saying you now have tried two pumps and both are leaking from the body of the pump. Assuming that you are not connecting the pump to mains fed supplies ie mains cold and/or combi-boiler supplied hot, then you have been unlucky and will have to change the pump ...

kevin47, Unless you have a door frame which is an external frame the door stops should be fixed by nails onto the frame. Use a chisel and try driving it in at the bottom of one of the stops. If you find that the stops are part of the frame you will have to cut them off - any coarse unbacked saw will...

ed404,
I assume you are referring to air bricks which ventilate the space under suspended floors. In this case you should not seal up the airbricks or you will get wet rot in the suspended floor.
Where are the draughts you refer to coming from?

armytouch,
You are beginning to loose me in the diversity of the information.
Is the pump leaking from the connections on the pump or the connections to the copper pipe or from the pump body itself.
Is this a shower pump supplying water to single taps?

russellfl, The short answer is yes, all structural alterations should have BR approval. In reality if you have fitted PC lintols over the opening you can get retrospective approval if you need it. This situation will only occur if you want to sell your home within a 4 year period or someone shops yo...

kevin47, If you can do the equivalent of moving the door in its current orientation to the other side of the frame ie do not turn it round. Cut the hinge rebate across the door and fit hinges to the opposite edge. Cut new rebates for the hinges on the door frame and hang the door. Because the door h...

aaron,
If the stones are coming off it has not been applied correctly. You could spray paint the surface with a masonry paint but you must make sure all exposed surfaces are sealed.

stevethefish,
Some of these systems are difficult to set up especially if you have an older TV with just one scart socket. You may have to use a component video lead to get things to work. If you google "connecting tv and theatre system" there are many solutions.

Kenco,
Sealing the outside of these boards is a no no - they must be able to breath through the coating. How about using a micro-porous masonry paint, eg sandtex, I think this can be applied direct.

You must fit restraint straps to hold the wall plate in place these should be bolted down the wall. Whether you need joist hangers will depend on the wall plate detail.

bobbijean, A lot will depend on the size of the beams, at the moment you have a roof covering which weighs virtually nothing. If you were to insulate between the beams and add plasterboard this would add considerably to the roof loading. The other problem will be condensation in the insulation, you ...

Kenco,
The problem with this type of board is getting a secure bond to the board especially where it will be exposed. I suggest that the only way of using a normal cement screed is to first fix stainless laths over the outside of the boards and screed on this.

When the floor was laid an expansion gap of about 5mm should have been left on all side of the plywood. You have little choice but to relay the floor.

McLovin28, DGU's are replaced by pulling out the rubber beading on the inside of the window, pushing the window inwards (from the outside) and levering out the angled beading on the outside - the sides generally come out first. You can then measure the actual size of the DGU. Lift out the DGU to mea...
